Retired Pinehouse Laker – Dray Tinker
This week the sixth season of Northern Saskatchewan Football begins! New for the 2018 season is the return of the La Loche Lakers who are being coached by Greg Hatch. Welcome back Lakers! In fact they will be kicking off the season when they host the Pinehouse Lakers on Wednesday, September 5…. The Laker Bowl! This will be the first season that Pinehouse will be playing football without the Tinker brothers, Johnny or Dray but we know that their mom, Lori Hanson will be out to cheer on the team. We also regret to inform fans that the Senator Myles Venne Huskies are taking a year off this season. There are six teams that are playing six aside football.
The season will consist of a round robin schedule of five games. Each team will play two home games, while La Loche will play it’s three road games against Eastern Teams at the Max Clunie Field in Prince Albert. This is to help with alleviate the extensive travel and costs. The two top teams will play for the Ralph Pilz Trophy as the northern champions on Saturday, October 20th in PA and represent the north in the SHSAA provincials. The 2017 champions, Cumberland House Islanders look to defend their title.
In 9- Aside Football the La Ronge Churchill Chargers will pay their second season in the SHSAA C1 division against Melfort, Tisdale, Humboldt and Nipawin.
Thanks to all the coaches, managers, volunteers, officials and parents for putting their heart into high school football. We strive to play a game that will make a difference in the lives of young people, their families and communities. Without you this would not be possible.
